JBS has announced the establishment of Brazil’s first cultivated meat research and development centre. The company is channelling US$100m into the two projects, with the second phase due to be inaugurated in 2022. The initiative will have around 25 researchers and will work on the development of ‘leading-edge technologies.
The R&D drive will be headed up by Luismar Marques Porto and Fernanda Vieira Berti, both Ph.D. in chemical engineering.
