A note on ranking & company scope
Not everyone here builds self-driving cars for a living. Some show up because a single division, subsidiary, or joint venture is quietly patenting in this space – in perception, planning and control, vehicle compute, or robotaxi and trucking platforms. That’s the nature of autonomous vehicle IP: it cuts across automakers, suppliers, chipmakers, internet companies, and robotics alike. A few entries, such as GM Global Technology Operations Llc, Walmart Apollo Llc, Rockwell Automation Technologies Inc, and Ye Hub Armenia Llc, are named patent-holding or operating entities distinct from the parent brand most people recognize, and Createai Inc is the former TuSimple, whose autonomous trucking patents predate its change of business; each is noted individually in the accompanying verification log.
